In 2009 a serendipidous meeting brought the owners of Hyforce Orchard together with Turning Point. After some negotiations, the Turning Point horticulture team took over the management of the orchard.
As newbies to the kiwifruit industry, the horticulture team entered into a steep learning curve about the intracacies of one of the Bay of Plenty's biggest earning industries.
Assisting us in this venture are the team at Fruition Horticulture. Fruition's consultants have provided advice and training to the horticulture volunteers providing them with expert instruction on kiwifruit management, skills vital to the economy of the Bay.
Fruition have had industry links with Turning Point having previously been involved in the KAI project. This project provided intensive training in the industry followed by guaranteed seasonal work in nominated packhouses.
The Hyforce Orchard provides the horticulture volunteers with a grounding in kiwifruit orchard management in all its aspects and a supportive place to gain valuable work skills and experience. From time to time, paid work opportunities are available.
